about
so at the beginning of 2020 we had TIME IS THE FIRE IN WHICH WE BURN ready to go at 8 tracks. I had two demos sitting around in a rudimentary form (Only Skin and Wicker Man). Only Skin ended up being finished a lot sooner than I expected and ended up on the album because it was finished two days before I announced it. Wicker Man kind of sat around, waiting for the next album. Of course COVID times came about and I ended up with even more free time than expected. that song eventually became SUMMERISLE and was finished around June. But of course, I hate sitting on things, and since I've become busy again, I decided to just put it out and leave next year fresh. This song is free to all, and is essentially the A side to Only Skin's B side (even tough I also love that song). They're both about self doubt, and they're friends because of that :)
lyrics
you should know you can never rely on me
it's suicide if you try to deny that
open veins will only flow with time
when you look back at the times we cheered
the thoughts sincere, the token years
you start to fear the forgotten tears that
paved our way through life
forever lost in the gaunt extremes
exhausted schemes, the broken dreams
wrestle with poverty til we scream but
please excuse if I refuse a trial
you should know you can never rely on me
I'm just a ghost in a moment that I repeat
I'll disappear with the smell of the burning leaves
just an ember in the heart of November
good vibrations always soon expire
burst to flame will I still look the same
when I'm on fire
you should know you can never rely on me
the only fool who could lose with a guarantee
it's my excuse to abuse all the bourgeoise
it's suicide if the bruises imply that
open veins will only flow with time
cursed with shame will I still bleed the same
when I'm on fire
woke so gentle from the choking sound
throats restrained will spark the fuel to flame
as it all burns down
bound in husk and crucified
raise me up into the sky
conjure fear to idolize
I'll burn for you so bright
built a house with dynamite
paint it in a different light
I will make these walls ignite
(a sacrifice)
the fool that's trapped inside

It's uncanny just how good Actors is at emulating that Post-Punk synth sound from my younger days.
Each listen just gets better and better. I feel slightly ashamed for not having heard this album until a few short days ago. modestwriggles

Shoegaze ist die Kunst des Dröhnens, doch „Everything Is Alive“ setzt diese Elemente nur sparsam ein. Statt Hall- und Zerr-Sounds aufzutürmen, schäumt die Musik in feinen Bläschen über.

I'm late to the party as usual, but so glad I finally gave this album a chance. It has everything I look for: massive guitars, airy vocals, killer production. This is profoundly my shit. Matt (TDBU)
